In our daily lives, crying is not seen as a positive thing to do. Most of the time, things that would make one cry are prevented and even in instances of death, people who have lost their loved ones are even encouraged and motivated not to cry.

Regardless of all these, it must be emphasized that crying has its own health benefits and as such it is important that at one time or the other one should cry .

It is important to note that crying has been associated with improving breathing in babies.

Even though babies cry a lot and that can be frustrating, it is good as it gives evidence of the fact that the baby is breathing well.

Apart from the fact that crying signifies good breathing pattern of a baby, it has been established that crying is able to induce babies to sleep well.

It is said that a baby sleeps longer after crying and the chances of the baby waking up in between sleep is also reduced as the baby tends to go into a state of deep sleep after controlled crying.

Crying has a way of detoxifying the body. This is so because through crying, the body is relieved of a stress hormone called cortisol.

 Cortisol can be quite dangerous to one’s mind and body if it is in high levels. Crying is able to reduce one’s level of cortisol in the body which would manifest in reduced amount of stress on the body.

It is much difficult to handle emotional pain as compared to emotional pain.

For physical pain ,one get some pain killers and the pain could stop within a short period of time but with emotional pain, pain killers wouldn’t do the magic.

However ,crying can help relieve one of emotional pain. Crying is said to release neurotransmitters in the brain that can prevent emotional pain.

As surprising as it may be, crying is said to be effective in killing harmful bacteria in the body and this is due to an enzyme called lysozyme.

 This enzyme is said to be present in tears that come down from the eyes and it is said to kill bacteria in 15 minutes.

Lysozyme is believed to fight the bacteria that causes anthrax.

They actually end up hydrating your eyes. Dehydration is one of the common causes of deteriorating eyesight. But, tears can naturally offset this problem.

Crying is said to have a positive impact on one’s immune system.It is effective against skin allergies since it regulates the secretion of immunoglobulins.

Tears get secreted when you cry. They originate from a gland called the lacrimal gland in the eye. Not many people know that tears resulting from crying have electrolytes and proteins that are useful for our body.

 Some of the electrolytes present in human tears include potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc and , calcium. Tears also contain useful proteins such as Lacritin, Lactoferrin, Lysozyme and Lipocalin.
