Foods That Can Help Manage And Reduce Heartburn


At certain times when some people eat , they start experiencing heartburn.

Heartburn is a condition that comes up with digestion and it is normally experienced as a burning sensation in the chest.

 It has been established that certain foods can cause heartburn even though it varies from one person to the other.

It is also interesting to note that there are certain foods that can also reduce heartburn whenever they occur.

Symptoms of heartburn include:

  • You have difficulty swallowing
  • You have persistent nausea or vomiting
  • You have weight loss because of poor appetite or difficulty eating

 Rice and Couscous

These complex carbohydrates are both excellent weapons in the fight against heartburn, and are often quite easy to include in many meals.

Rice is often used in combination with poultry in a prepared dish, and can deliver a kind of one-two punch that will help keep heartburn at bay.

It has been noted that oatmeal helps in the management of heartburn.

 It has been established that oatmeal has the ability to soak the excess acid in one’s stomach and as a result, reduces one’s heartburn.

Apart from helping in the management of heartburn,oatmeal is able to make one full for a longer period of time.


It is not possible to just get some ginger and start chewing it even though some people are able to do that.

Ginger can be used to prepare a dish.

 In dealing with heartburn, ginger plays a significant role especially as it helps to ease digestive problems.


Salad has a whole lot of benefits and one of such benefits is in the reduction and management of heartburn whenever it is experienced.

Most ingredients in a salad are great for reducing heartburn but emphasis must be placed on the fact  onions and tomatoes should not be included as they do contain higher levels of acid.

Dressings should also be kept to a minimum, since they often contain fat, and can also have acid in them.


So far as one may not be a vegetarian, through one way or the other ,one can make chicken as part of a meal.

The skin of chicken comes with so much fat and should be done away with but on the whole, chicken also helps in the reduction of heartburn.

Greens and Roots

Foods in this bracket include asparagus,broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans. Any other green vegetable or root vegetable falls within greens and roots and they have been noted to help in the fight against heartburn.

Onions do not help in the management of heartburn.
